Reef tank adventure...

Postby Paul » Fri Aug 26, 2011 6:11 am

I've bowed to peer pressure.
"Start a reef tank or I won't respect you" and "I have a reef tank, the ladies love it!" etc is what I have been copping from Tim lately, so tonight i've bought a 75 liter curved front tank with a glass overflow and a 40 liter sump and skimmer off a reefer who upgraded to bigger and better things. This will be my next project when I have the 120 ready to go and is well established...Not much to report really...Watch this space I guess :P

Good on you, Paul. The only thing stopping me from converting my oscar tank to a reef tank is the price of a chiller for a tank that size (and the cost to run it).

This is my reef octopus skimmer. Still needs a bit of a clean, perhaps attack it with vinegar to get the coraline type growth out of it.

No instructions, Sure it won't be too hard to work out though :P As I think it's a hurricane 1000, the water goes in the pipe above the powerhead, and is returned to the sump via the pipes with the ball valve. He said he used the valve to set the level in the sump when he was running it.
And the tank is still on the back seat of my car...
