white spot

Hi am new to this site. ive just got my self two new oscar's witch i traded in for my for Silver dollors.. i have 180 ltr tank witch i no is a bit on the small size for when my O'S GET BIGGER there about 4 and 5 inch at mo and been in the tank for about a week when i notice this prob.. ive just done a water change of about 50.. and treated the tank with protozin to see if this dose the trick.. The white spots r more on one of o's then the other ...O and ive bumped the temp up as well to around 80.. is everything ive done at the mo ok please advice... ???

Hello.

Never used protozin but we normally treat ich with salt and temp raised to 84 (over a couple of days), also with higher temps make sure you get plenty O2 in the water with an airstone or good surface aggitation.

Hi thanks for the advice . I will see how things go .. :fro: should i do a more frequently water changes wile i have this prob..last one was friday and i feed my fish every other day with sinking Cichlid gold so to keep water nice..

O The protozin is from Waterlife dont know if its anygood... :D

keeping water pristine will help. fish prob took ich due to stress of the move

hopefully the ich will do one soon .... is there anything more i should no about O'S with me not havin o's before.. and how fast do they grow bit worried with tank ive got till i get the new one... :-\

Curious as to whether the white spots are more in the rays of the fins. Os are notorious for getting calcium deposits where they damage fin rays. Other than that Gerry has you covered.

Growth rate on a healthy O can run .5" to 1" a month...so any tank appears to shrink quick. 48g (180L),with them being around 5",means you should start looking for an upgrade now.Especially having two.
Filtration will need to be a healthy flow rate too. Depending on the filter type used it should be 10X tank volume hourly with hang on powerfilters (HoB),5X tank volume with canisters,or 7.5X with a combination of both.Those are minimum values...more always better.
Just think about it.

Thanks to all who have welcomed me.. O'S are looking better now :fro: Ive bin lookin at 60x24x24 tank today so my O's will have plenty room to swim............ :D
