Switching my tank.

Postby Carmine on Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:52 am

Hello all,

Ive got a question:
Ive i change my tanks being my 70gallon for my africans and the 130g for my Oscars or American cichlids. Could i place more oscars in the 130g or you think better to put in More american cichlids?

Can anyone make some kind of things i could do?

All Malawi Cichlids. But they can live in the other tank because its their former home.

But would it be an advantage to house Oscars in the bigger tank?

a 130 you could have 4 O's , dont go for 3 O's as thats a really bad number when it comes to O's plus some dithers
you could do 2O's a JD and another similar sized cichlid maybe a GT or an Acara with a plec plus some dithers , or a combination of 2 O's and matbe 3 small to medium cichlids say JD Con and salvin , you do have a fair leeway in what you can keep in it
those suggestions are of course based on them getting on :fro:

Ok I miss read the post...Blonde moment :D

130 is a great size for O's plus what ever you like. 2 O's, SD's GT or JD. You have your options open. Alan's suggestions are great too. :fro:

Well ive switched them!

Now ive got the Oscar and the convicts for now in the tank! If they get nasty they go out. Think im gonna add another Oscar in there.

So it would be:

2 Oscars
2 Convicts

Could i add something different? I need to say the tank is 1.50m long 0.50m deep and 0.70m high

Would it be big enough to fit 4 oscars? Dont think so... or am i wrong?

if they all got on then yes its possible to have 4 O's in a tank that size
what about a female Salvini very colourfull and doesnt hide much with big dither fish around like O's , or a JD ?
if you do go for a JD make sure the O's are a good bit bigger than it otherwise it may bully the O's , ie 5" O's 2" JD as they can be mean if it thinks it can be
i would also rethink the 2 cons as they will breed
how do you get cons to breed ?
easy just add water :lmao:

Here you get an idea of the tank.

Butters being 4" in growth. Dont look at the dust in the tank. Its from me removing all the stones in there for the Africans.
