corys

Postby Bill » Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:04 pm

I just picked up some Cory catfish and I'm wondering what they should eat. All I have right now is pellets and flakes.

They'll eat either, but it at least needs to be something that gets down to their level before other more competitive feeders get it first. They'll scavenge but it's still important to feed to them directly.

I use Hikari Wafers (for catfish),various sinking cichlid pellets, and frozen bloodworms/whiteworms/brine shrimp to feed them.

Curious as to what tank these are in.
Just think about it.

I have a single cory in my 10 gallon, along with a bunch of RCS and just feed them some broken up algae wafers. They seem to love it.

Mine eat cichlid crisps (they sink after a minute) and bits of algae wafers.
Any day is a good day for watching the fish swim........

I got three corys, but I'm not sure what kind. Here is a picture.

Hard to tell at that size in the pic. Either swartzi or julii, both common in shops.
If they have a black mask down through the eye,swartzi...if speckled down through the eye to the snout, then julii.

Corys will be a lot happier (and healthier) over a finer substrate than that irregular gravel. Julii are also one of the more sensitive Corys to water conditions,so stay on the water quality.
Just think about it.

Agree with Oinky they would be allot happier and healthier over a fine sand gravel.

Okay. I'll pick up some aquarium sand this weekend. Also I got them to eat some sinking algae wafers.
