I do really like them, but I have one problem. My penguin 100 filter that I'm running keeps getting clogged with the sand I just put in. Is there anway to stop this?

Raise the intake tube. I cut the tube shorter on the hob filter for my tank with sand. The canister filters can just use less extension pieces.
Any day is a good day for watching the fish swim........

What grade of sand did you go with and how well did you rinse it? Corys are active but really shouldn't kick up anything heavier than "sugar sand" if it was well rinsed.
Just shorten,as Donsfish mentioned, and you can also put fine open-cell foam (I just slit an AquaClear filter sponge and slip over it) on the intake as a pre-filter if you like. Most of the Cory species will "graze" off it too for the fine food particles and algae/bio-film that gets caught in it.
Just think about it.
