tank upgrade :)

Postby Antonia on Sat Jul 24, 2010 3:15 pm

We picked up a used 6ftx2ftx2ft tank the other day.We are going move Red O,Sev and the sds into it. :fro:
It came with filter ,heaters and gravel as well.Though we are not a fan of the stand, and are getting one made by a mate to look like our 4ftx2ftx2ft stand. Here's some photos, the back glass is frosted ,and I'm not sure on how many gallons it is ,150gal? :-\ .I only know litres. :)

lol,yes that would be good OinKy. :fro:
So in the 180gal will be 1 O,1 sev and the sds,and in the 100gal a lonely little green texas.
I thought if the texas is nasty,I will just put the sds in with him,but if you know of some cichlids that would be great.

I'd recommend Chuco godmani (should be able to find in Oz).Great fish that plays well with others, but not with it's own kind...won't take crap off anyone either, holds its own with my A. lyonsi without inflicting damage.10" max on them.
Hericthys labridens works well with them."Media Luna" is a beautiful strain of those that's getting easier to find.Too bad don't have "overnight" or could send a couple your way.
Smaller fish like Firemouths work well too...as well as Rainbow Cichlids if the Texas seems mild-mannered.You can always let the Texas have the run of the bottom by using Festivum which keep more to the top levels.
Just ideas.

How exciting Antonia!! CONGRATS!! :fro: We had our O's in a 180 with green Terror, JD, 9 SD's, common pleco. It was a great tank and lots of fun. A few things we had to get, a longer tube for the python so it was easier to get to the back of the tank (especially for me being short) and we got a plastic reacher so we could move things around when the O's decided to rearrange. ::)
