got my xp3s and have some quick questions.

wooo whoo!!! :D . that much closer to having the new tank up and running. the bummer is my fish are at my moms house because we had 2 give a 2 month notice before we move that way the landlord can show our place to get other renters in shortly after we move. stupid month to month renting lol. i miss having my fish at home :'( . anyway, i was reading the instructions and a few questions came to mind. what is more suitable for my o the bio-chem stars or the ceramics rings (came with the stars) or does it not matter? it sounds like the stars would be the better choice. as for the chemical filtration it came with bio-chem zorb but there is also the phos-zorb, nitra-zorb, and activated carbon. which is the best to use and do you have to use it (i know carbon is optional)? if there is a cost difference whats the best for you money (instructions state you have to replace) or is there something that would work just as well when it comes time to replace? the power jet nozzle has options of shallow or deep with or without tap. i would assume shallow or deep depends on water level? if not whats the reasons/difference for running shallow and deep? whats the reasons for running tap or no tap? thank you all for you time and im glad i found such a caring helpful group of people.

It doesn't matter whether you us e the ceramic rings or stars just stuff as much bio in there as you can. Save the bio chem zorb for removing meds if you ever have the need. The only pad that you will eventually have to replace is the fine white one it breaks down after a while. Most people use the spray bar to help agitate the surface all the other stuff that comes with the filter can be used if you prefer but to be honest I don't see the point.

Agree with John. I have the spray bar right under the surface angled for agitation. The flow control valve might come in handy in situations where you want to decrease the flow, such as in a heavily planted tank with floating plants. There's no reason to restrict water flow with oscars--the more flow the better. I don't even have the valve installed on my XP3.

awesome. now that i saw everything that goes in it i got a better understanding. i remembered that the fine pad needed replacement. the instructions really dont tell you much just how it can be put together and what order the filtration goes in. ill make sure i cram as much bio in there as possible....well, without restricting the water flow. :police:
