Yeah, they've now moved to the other side of the tank, picking at the driftwood, cleaning it and the rock holding it down. Buggers even came up to attack the toothbrush I was using to clean up some algae. The tank, though, has ich at the moment, so I'm not holding out any hopes of a repeat performance in the near future. This may even be the reason that the first spawn was unsuccessful. The rams are CB, but everything else in the tank is WC. Blasted WC fish and different ich strains. I swear you could keep a two batches in separate QT for a year and not see a single spot, but put them together and WHAM! Being that I don't want to remove 50-60 fish to a hospital tank, and I have the plants and the shrimp, my treatment options are limited. Right now I'm using Kordon's Ich-Attack, 3rd day of treatment. After Day 1, about 10% of the previously infected fish were clear, clear fish were not infected, and infected fish showed less spots, some substantially less. After Day 2, uninfected fish remained clear, no new infections, no noticeable change in infected fish. We'll see after today what day 3 brings. Unlike a lot of "safe" Ich medications that many dub as "snake oil", Ich-Attack at least lists its active ingredient, Naphthoquinone, which definitely has been shown to have at least some antibiotic properties against viruses and protozoa, although only about half as effective as Malachite Green, Formalin, and Copper, all or some of which are NOT invert and/or plant and/or "scaleless" fish safe. So far, so good though, we'll see.

Ich has pretty much completely cleared, lost one ram, and a bunch of cardinals and a few Sterbais. The remaining ram pair has spawned again this evening and they're guarding the eggs more ferociously this time.

the tank looks amazing, cant wait to see the fish in their new home....

a word on rams, i tried a pair awhile back (i've wanted a pair since i first saw them, too pretty) and got one spawn out of them pretty quick....but they ate the eggs, and shortly after that the female came down with im assuming a nasty parasite (by her symptoms) and died. awhile after that, while i was looking for a new female, the male came down with a parasite and passed as well despite my best efforts and a good fight. so hey - at least you're doing better than me lol good luck and if you do manage to get swimmers i want to see
