Definitely not a red devil, though I couldn't tell you what it really is.......through today though I suspect someone will give you a more accurate ID.
Any day is a good day for watching the fish swim........

im hoping someone can help me! hes an aggressive little sucker. The oscars ride home the lfs would just sit in the plastic bag and look at you. We held the bag up on the way home with this guy and he tries to attack your hands ect. through the bag.

Not to sure, I have to agree that i dont think its a Red Devil. It kinda reminds me of a Fire Mouth but i dont think its that either. There are some very knowlegable peeps here. Most likely some-1 will be able to tell ya what it is.

If you can get a better picture with a full profile, that would be great. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like a juvenile red terror. If that's what it is, you do not want it in your oscar tank. In the case of a red terror, the name fits the attitude.

Looks like a female "Cichlasoma" urophthalmus just from the pic.Least to me.

Common names...Mayan Cichlid and False Red Terror. Which might explain why in a Red Devil tank...red something cichlid is red something cichlid to most unknowing employees at the lfs.
Just think about it.

Mayan.
You tell the quick difference between festae (Red Terror) and urophthalmus (False Red Terror/Mayan) by the spot on the caudal peduncle (tail fin base).Red Terror spot is circular,False Red Terror is more of a band...like in the pic.
Compare...
