Accuracy In Information

If you look at any of the above forums and think... hmmm... it relates to aquariums... but don't quite go there... then it probably goes here!

Hey - u pikkin on "The Not-so-Smart Pet Store"??

If they had done me right - I would only have 1 aquarium for Booger - but it led me into the puddle habit  :goof:

"The Not-so-Smart Pet Store" on the local level here could care less and play it off as though any doubt about their info is nothing less than stupid.

I told them if they didn't put me into a 55 gal tank for my Oscar - I was going to quit doing business with them.

Haven't spent a red cent with them since.

Actually emailed corporate and told them how their falsified info about Oscars has cost them a bunch of money since I NO LONG spend with them.

I told them:

Since then - I have NOT renewed the annual vet package for my dog - I spent over $600.00 USD on a 56 gallon tank at the Pet Superstore and have purchased 3 Magnum Canister Filter set ups with the Pet Superstore and bought my Red (Fred) at "The other pet store".

I made a point to inform them that all this is BECAUSE they are NOT responsible!

FYI: "The big store that happens to sell fish" is worse - they sold baby Pacu's with NO info

IF people don't make a noise - they won't get heard!
Oscars - Lutino & Red
Plecos - Albino Ancistrus & Spotted & Commons & Rhino
Eels - G. Tile & Spiney
Rope Fish & Bichir & Black Ghost Knife & Dragon Goby
Green Barbs & Blood Parrots & Albino Cory

lol.  I think I understood all that.

I guess that is the point.  Trying to encourage them to be responsible.

I have to admit that the 1st quarter of the year is my "prime time" work-wise so the NCIAC.net activities have been allowed to "simmer".  We have jsut engaged a few sites in the letters to "The other pet store".  The flow seems to elicit a response--lol.  I have posted responses at the Forum at http://www.noclownsinacube.net

To be honest, this time of the year is brutal.  Every client seems to kick it into high gear getting all the new marketing materials created and on to the street.  This week is when NCIAC.net will begin to pick back up -- at least visibly.  The past week has seen some organizational cath-up going on.

Thanks for all the help so far.  We will be getting at it much harder in the very near future.  I hate it when reality gets in the way of fish stuff.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that while we have not been as visible we have been active.

For those of you that have been curious about revisions made by "The Not-so-Smart Pet Store" the new signage should have begun to show up in some stores.  How they are rolling it out is a different discussion, which will be talked about soon.

Here is a link to a quick and dirty spreadsheet presentation at No Clowns In A Cube.net.  We have been playing with a database presentation of the data--it will be neat and it will be soon.

http://www.noclownsinacube.net/fish_chart.html

There are two types of "The Not-so-Smart Pet Store" entries.  One is simply "The Not-so-Smart Pet Store" Revision.  In instances the "The Not-so-Smart Pet Store" line is indeed a Revision.  Our data was sufficiently incomplete--or absent--that we utilized the most recent data without differentiating between the previous and current iterations.

You will also notice the inclusion of data from a couple of the web based and catalog retailers.  At the same time you will also see the beginnings of the inclusion of data from "Pet Connection Mfg".  Pet Connection Mfg is the company that provides those incredibly incomplete--and often inaccurate signs for the lfs market.

We have significantly more species form both the retailers and Pet Connection Mfg to add.  We want to be as accurate and thorough as possible so it will take another 30-60 days to get a more comprehensive look at the retail market.  It is a great beginning.

We will be resuming web-based efforts asking for letters very soon.  We needed to back-up a bit and get better organized. Thanks for all your support so far--we will need much more in the future.

sully

PS. Sorry for the link.  There is just no other way for the information to be easily presented.  Site admins/mods please send us a 468 x 60 banner for inclusion in our banner program—it is free—lol.

An update –it seems to be the week for those.

We tried a slightly different approach with "The other pet store".  We combined the public letter writing campaign, which so many of you participated in, with behind the scenes letter writing, phone calls and e.mails.  In part a different tactic to make sure everyone does not burn out sending letters, in part to accommodate the schedules of people atNCIAC.net (all volunteer groups are tough—lol).

We received an e.mail from "The other pet store" today that is very encouraging.  Here is the "The other pet store" response.

Tom,

We would be glad to work with you.  What do you have in mind?

Thanks,

Tom

Nominal editing of phone numbers has occurred.

The information is not changed yet.  Yet, it is an indication of openness and willingness to examine change.  As always, we will keep the hobbyists that have supported our efforts up to date.

"The other pet store" is to be commended for their response.  All of you should be commended for your support.  Nothing happens without the fishkeepers that make this hobby such a great pursuit.

Thanks!
