True good point. Yeah so far it's been almost a week and the cornea seem very happy always active swimming around good sign. Maybe I'll try getting some hornwort as well can't hurt.

Rummy-nose a good choice.
When the color fades at the nose you know there's a water issue (chemistry or quality),bright color equals good conditions. Sort of like little fishy barometers.
Just think about it.

Lots keep Rummy-nose with Discus. Nowadays, domestic Discus can come from a wide variety of water chemistry as can the Rummys,so the Rummys get used as an "early warning system" to protect water quality on the more valuable Discus.

Let them be your watchdogs and try the GBR.
Just think about it.

Do you think the homemade stuff I made would be good for the cories & tetras? its got lots of veggies and fruits but also high in protein with the cichlid pellets and shrimp.

Good for them if they eat it. Most Tetras are are omnivorous.

I've been feeding them flake, bloodworms and shrimp pellets for now for both tetras an cories seem to like it.

Just picked up 5 boesmani rainbows, tanks coming together nicely. Just wish I picked up that nice pair of GBRs when my LFS had them. All they have now are the Bolivians. They sold out of the GBRs and electric GBRs .

Very funny to watch the rainbows try to school with the rummy-nose tetras

Would Tapajos Redheads work for my setup now or do you think the rummy nose would become a possible snack?

Redheads will stay near the substrate, but since they have "personality" at times they will come up to greet you. Feeding time for sure once they recognise you as the delivery boy. Honestly, long as they are well fed don't think they would bother them since they are mostly sifters...but a small enough "stupid" Rummy might get eaten.
Full grown Rummys shouldn't have much to fear from juvi Redheads, and growing up with them would pretty much have them not viewing them as food.
Just think about it.

Hmm it's an option but there's already so much bottom action in the tank.
