Too much Slate?

Should I only have slate on one side of tank for egg laying?
I have it on both sides of my tank.Is this why my Oscar doesn't know what do because,he's confused on which is the egg laying spot?

Nah, they should pick their spot and go from there regardless of what other items are in there.
Any day is a good day for watching the fish swim........

Ok...She should be laying eggs by June 3rd.The 4th at the latest. This will be the 5th time.Hopefully the other Oscar fertilizes the eggs or lays some of it's own.I still don't know what the other one is. ???

That's part of the frustrations with "trying" to get oscars to breed. Been through it before where after several times I finally caught that they were both females.
Did a swap and did get a male and female that bred but decided I couldn't let it continue so separated them again. Have two females together now that one continues to lay regularly, and the other female doesn't but they go through the whole act as a pair :silly:
Nothing you can do but keep the patience and eventually you'll figure out whether it's really even a pair or not......

You could slate the whole bottom and they'll still chose only one that they like.
Shouldn't be any confusion on which rock...there's either eggs on it,or there isn't.
Just think about it.

Thanks again.I just don't what's going on with my other oscar. It's over 18 months old.I would think that by this point in time,it would've let me know if it were male or female.I don't know anymore..... :-\

I know people over 18 years old that still haven't figured the whole "birds and bees" thing out.
Eventually they get it...and so will your O.
Just think about it.
