My female oscar had her tube fully extended last night ready to lay eggs. When I woke up this morning there wasn't an egg to be found. Now her tube is going back up.
Was it a false egg lay?
Did they eat them all up overnight?
I'm really confused.

Tube dropping doesn't mean it's 100% she's going to lay. Seen them drop for no apparent reason so can't really call it a "false lay" either.

You are now a bonafide,fully initiated,Oscar owner.

When will she lay eggs again?
Is she off of her schedule?

The "schedule" isn't necessarily precise. There will be variables. My girl will lay somewhere in the 2 week range, for a while and then not lay for months again. While she's in the laying mode anywhere from about 10 -20 days is my guess.....haven't kept that close of tabs on it but certainly not happening exact spacing apart.

I cleaned my oscar tank today and guess what I found.I found eggs as I was vacuuming the gravel. She didn't lay them on the slate at either side of the tank. She laid them in the gravel. This is a new spot for her.I'm still trying to figure out why she did this.My wife said that maybe she doesn't want the oscar eating the eggs.Who knows why?

I've had a couple of spawns that were "non-adhesive". They simply didn't stick. Why,I couldn't tell you.
That's more likely what happened...layed,tried fanning, shot them into the gravel.
Just think about it.
