I'm assuming your O's are pretty small if you are feeding them feeder guppies. In that case baby O's are much more cautious than what you might expect. Also we need more info. How long have you had them, how big is the tank, is it cycled, what else is in there, how big are the fish, what else are you feeding them, how often, etc. ?

Hi
Welcome to the site.. :)
It will take some time for the oscars to adjust.. They will come around soon.
You will need a big tank which you already know.. They will get big fast within a few months. ;)
I would be setting up that 75 gallon very soon. :)

Hi
I would take the feeders back to the store if it were me..
Oscars do eat fruits and vegetables but it's best to start them on it when they are young. :)
Here's a small list of what I feed mine..
Crickets
Frozen Silver Sides
Peas
Bananas
Grapes
Pellets
Freeze Dried Krill(make sure to soak before feeding)
Earth Worms
etc. :)

first and foremost welcome!!!

as for the 75gallon tank, you want to start setting it up pretty much now. a 10gallon is much too small for one oscar and they grow (when healthy) up to an inch a month.......

as for Filtration i am not the one to ask but if you could list your current and planned (for the bigger tank) filtration it would help a lot.......

for Cycling i'd check out viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2091 and for any other questions, starting with the articles section will be really helpful as they are made by members for members.......

personally i would recommend taking out the feeders, they can carry parasites/diseases, arent really that nutritious, and have been known to increase aggression in an oscar.......

also, oscars tend to sulk a bit, they are picky and dont like change at all so not eating for a couple days isnt unusual. a healthy oscar will not starve itself and they will eat when they are hungry enough. i would recommend starting the varied diet now as well to prevent them from being too finicky later on (like our oscar lol).......

.......i imagine thats more than you need to know lol again welcome

Welcome :fro:
I would set up the 75 gallon now and you want filtration rates (minimum) of tank volume x 10 if using HOB filters or internals and tank volume x 5 if going for canister filtration.
take the guppies back until your Oscar is in the 75, then you can have the guppies back in the tank you have now ;D

Read the articles JohnL listed and your on your way to keeping Oscars in an enjoyable way for you and a healthy way for them :fro: :fro:

You'll want the 75 before you know it and I'd set it up sooner rather than waiting.

Since your O's are so new they are still adjusting to the fairly major changes in their lives. At the size they are they still have to be afraid of anything trying to eat them so in a new environment they will likely stay fairly hidden until they feel comfortable. This may take a day to a couple of weeks depending on the oscar.

If you don't know what cycling the tank is i'm guessing you didn't cycle your tank. That will cause a big problem in the near future and is another reason to get the 75 up as soon as possible. Feed the O's only what they will eat and be sure to take out anythign they don't eat.
